Due to Covid-19 emergency both International Award and Young Talents Competition 2021 edition are canceled

 

 

Rules


Art. 1 Competition enrollment

The competition is open to all musicians of all nationalities and will be taking place in Borgo Val di Taro (Parma - Italy) from July 13rd  to July 19th, 2020.

 

Art. 2 Sections and categories

All rounds will be open to the public. These are sections and categories:

BorGuitar Festival International Award July 13rd-17th, 2020


  • Solo selection (Guitar)- no age limit
  • Chamber music selection (from 2 to 8 musicians) with guitar - no age limit

Young Talents Competition July 19th, 2020


  • Solo Selection (Guitar)

A Category: born from 2005 

B Category: born from 2004 to 2007

C Category: born from 2000 to 2003

  • Chamber music selection:

D Category: groups from 2 to 8 musicians with at least one guitar (average age under 25)

It is possibile to enroll in higher categories. Past first prize winners can not apply for the same category or with the same ensemble. 

It is not possibile to apply for both Young Talents Competition and International Award

 

 

Art. 3 Registration fees

BorGuitar Festival International Award


  • Solo selection: competition participation, concerts' free entry, three masterclass lessons with Jury's member):
  • Solo selection: € 210;
  • Chamber music selection Duo € 250, Trio € 280, Quartet and more € 300;
  • Participation is free for Masterclass' students

Young Talents Competition


  • Solo Selection

A, B, C Category: € 30

  • Chamber music selection:

D Category: € 25 for each member

Refund of fees will only be granted if the event is cancelled by the organization.

The competition will take place only if the numbers of participants allows a meaningful competition.

 

Art. 4 The Jury

The Jury will consist of conservatory professors, music schools teachers and preeminent musicians.

 

Art. 5 Auditions

Prior to the audition all participants will have to submit to the Jury a copy of the scores of their program and an ID card or passport. The auditions’ schedule, the time and the location of the roll call will be on-line. Late-coming competitors may be admitted according to the final decision of  final decision of the Jury before the drawing up of their category’s minutes has been completed. The Jury is allowed to stop the performance in case it will exceed the time limit. Those members of the Jury who have family relationship or ongoing teaching relationships with participants must declare it and will be abstained from judging them.

 

Art. 6 Enrollment

Application form, which can be downloaded from www.artiesuoni.com, must be fill in all the parts, signed and must be submitted no later than July 10th, 2020 for Young Talents Competitiona) and no later than June 25th, 2020 for International Award. Application form should be sent by email to “G.A.S. Art. 7 Programs

BorGuitar Festival International Award*


  • Solo selection (Guitar) - no age limit
  • Chamber music selection with guitar - no age limit

Eliminatory round - July 13rd, 2020 starting at 10 a.m.

free program - maximum duration: 10 minutes

Second round - July 15th, 2020 starting at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

free program - maximum duration: 15 minutes

Final roundJuly 17th, 2020 starting at 9 p.m.

free program - maximum duration: 15 minutes.

Participants are not allowed to play in second and Final round the same music pieces previously performed during the other rounds.

Young Talents Competition*


  • Solo selection (Guitar)

A Category: free program - maximum duration: 6 minutes

B Category: free program - maximum duration: 8 minutes

C Category: free program - maximum duration: 10 minutes

  • Chamber music selection:

D Category: free program - maximum duration: 10 minutes

*Transcriptions will be admitted

 

Art. 8 Scores

BorGuitar Festival International Award 

Prizes cannot be shared and may not be awarded at the Jury’s discretion.

Young Talents Competition

The point system is expressed in cents. Participants with a score not less than 95/100 will be assigned the 1st prize. Participants with a score not less than 90/100 will be assigned the 2nd prize. Participants with a score not less than 85/100 will be assigned the 3rd prize. The outright winner for each section will be the participant with the highest score within first prizes.

 

The decision of the Jury is not subject to appeal.

 

Art. 9 Certificates, diplomas and prizes

BorGuitar Festival International Award


  • Solo selection

First prize: € 1.000, strings and accessories offered by D’Addario Foundation, Guitar Nails Kit and 1 concert** 

Second prize: € 500, strings and accessories offered by D’Addario Foundation, Guitar Nails Kit

Third prize: strings and accessories offered by D’Addario Foundation, Guitar Nails Kit and book selection

 

  • Chamber music selection with guitar

First prize: € 1.000, strings and accessories offered by D’Addario Foundation and 1 concert** 

Second prize: € 500, strings and accessories offered by D’Addario Foundation

Third prize: strings and accessories offered by D’Addario Foundation and book selection

 

** Concerts will be in BorGuitar Festival 2021 edition's program. Performers won’t be paid for their concerts. Travel expenses (with a maximum cost of € 300 for soloist and € 500 for chambert musica selection) so as accommodations fees will be refunded as long as performers provide the receipts.

 

 

Young Talents Competition


  • Solo selection (Guitar) - A-B-C categories:

Outright winner prize: a  guitar (A category); a guitar (B category) offered by Frenexport; strings and accessories, book selection, outright winner diploma, Guitar Nails Kit

First prize: first prize diploma, strings, accessories and book selection, Guitar Nails Kit

Second prize: second prize diploma, strings and accessories

Third prize: third prize diploma, strings and accessories

  • Chamber music selection - C category:

Outright winner prize: strings and accessories, book selection, outright winner diploma

First prize: first prize diploma, strings and accessories and book selection

Second prize: second prize diploma, strings and accessories

Third prize: third prize diploma

 

Strings and accessories are offered by D’Addario Foundation.

 

At the Jury’s discretion outstanding participants could be awarded a grant for taking part in the Music Campus and the Masterclass of the Borguitar Festival.

A certificate of attendance will be issued for all participants.

BorGuitar Festival International Award prize-giving ceremony will take place on July 17th, 2020 after competition’s final round. All Young Talents Competition prizes, certificates and diplomas will be given during the BorGuitar Festival final concert on July 19th starting from 5 p.m.

You must be present at the ceremony: failing to do so will result in the loss of the prize.
